Last Friday evening, our community gathered for our inaugural ‘Carols and Markets on Vine’ Christmas event held on the lawns here at the school.

In spite of the rain, it was a wonderful event which brought our whole community together, from the Receptions in the Junior Choir, to the Year 4 Choir students, and our Year 7s with their market stalls.

Thank you to our choir children and staff who have been practising for many weeks in the lead up to last Friday evening. While our choir numbers were somewhat hampered by the rain, the enthusiasm and dedication of our children to perform was clearly evident. Thank you and well done.

Our Year 7 students, in particular, flourished as their How We Organise Ourselves Unit of Inquiry into how businesses operate came to fruition during the evening through their various market stalls.

Having planned, budgeted, prototyped and pitched their business, Friday saw the market stalls come to life as they worked together in teams striving to make a profit for their charity of choice. I would like to congratulate and thank our Year 7 students and teachers for all of their amazing hard work and dedication to this service learning activity.

Thank you to all of the parents, staff, students and community members who contributed to what was a very successful night. Thank you to our PFA for your ongoing commitment to fostering a sense of community and connections between families here at Redeemer.

A particular thank you to the many parents who donated items such as: trucks, tents, food, plants, materials, cooking expertise etc.

Thank you also to Father Christmas who made a grand entrance towards the end of the evening.
