Staff Called to Serve in Lutheran Schools

In his letter to the Ephesians, the apostle Paul wrote:

It was [God] who gave gifts to humankind; he appointed some to be apostles, others to be prophets, others to be evangelists, others to be pastors and teachers. He did this to prepare all God’s people for the work of Christian service, in order to build up the body of Christ.

Redeemer Staff Installation and Dedication Service

This Friday the school will host our Installation Service for new staff in the Luther Park Centre from 2:45pm. Please note that this means that we won’t be having our normal Friday morning Worship service this week.

There are two special components of this Friday’s Installation and Dedication Service which are a bit different to our typical weekly worships at Redeemer.

Firstly all our new staff are installed. The installation of new staff occurs because Redeemer is a school of the Lutheran Church of Australia and we believe that all staff who work in Lutheran schools are called to serve the Lord in their various roles. Quite simply we serve God, by sharing the Gospel and by offering outstanding learning opportunities for all.

When staff are installed, they promise to carry out the responsibilities of their calling to the best of their ability, and in accordance with the truth of His Word. New staff in each Lutheran school are only installed once, with installation happening early in the school year. Once a new staff member is installed they are effectively ‘put into position’ and are ‘ready to serve’. In a secular sense an installation service is much like a ‘swearing in’ ceremony.

Secondly, all Redeemer staff are dedicated and blessed each year. The dedication of staff is a reminder to all previously installed staff of their responsibility to serve their calling to Redeemer. It is also a reminder of God’s ongoing and constant love for our staff and of His desire to bless staff and for staff to be a blessing to others in the work that they do.

I hope you are able to come along and join our staff and student community at our Installation and Dedication Service this Friday afternoon. The music on Friday will be led by one of the St Petri bands and they have chosen some of our students’ favourite songs. Our Installation and Dedication Service will be a wonderful way for our community to begin the new year.

My prayer for Redeemer this year is one of thanksgiving for the talented and passionate staff that have been called to serve the children in 2020. I also pray that God blesses each and every Redeemer child and family with His love, grace and peace today, and always.

Serving Him
