On Sunday night, 29 March 2020, the South Australian government ordered all schools in the Barossa Valley to close.
Principal Andrew Kelly contacted school families that evening, saying in part “SA Health has elected to immediately close all schools in our region as a precautionary measure given a number of positive COVID-19 cases in our region. We have been informed that SA Health will instruct when we may re-open.”
Mr Kelly featured on Ten News across South Australia the next evening:
As Mr Kelly said in the video, Redeemer had already switched to home learning earlier during the COVID-19 pandemic to support families who had to keep their children at home.
Redeemer will provide advice in coming weeks about the timing and format of learning resuming at Redeemer.
Our prayers are with all families and the community during this crisis, and those working in very difficult circumstances to find ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
We particularly look forward to the resumption of learning at the Redeemer campus when health officials determine it is safe to do so.
